...so I took the GoPro along.

Amazing Z! Is it a 260Z or do my eyes deceive me?

Thanks! 240. But in all fairness, its probably the GoPro's wide angle deceiving you, not your eyes.

Gorgeous Z! Thanks for posting—the top one in particular is breathtaking...

Even better then! I wish they weren't as rare and expensive to buy here in Europe as they seem to be in the States... Owning one is very high on my automotive bucket list!

I'm sorry to here that. Ironically, I got it because it's one of the more economical classics. Doesn't make it any less fun though.

I had no idea it was economical, but I guess that's a plus. My '88 Celica GT-Four (All-Trac) gets 20 City, 25 Hwy apparently, or at least that's what alltrac.net claims . How good is the 240Z?

Thanks! I'm a bit bugged by the cloudcover, but I like how the rest of the shot came out.

Well, all things relative. haha.
It was a 6k dollar car that's pretty reliable and pretty cheap to repair.
It gets 20-22mpg on normal driving, which is ok for something as moderately quick as it is. A nice middle ground between the 15mpg V8 americans of the era and the 25mpg VW bugs of the era.
So, its not miata cheap/fun, but its probably the only beaten by a baja bug if you're looking for something a little older.

Amazing. I think a thoughtfully-modified 240Z will be my next fun car after the E24. So classic and perfect. They can sound great, too.

I think the sound may be what totally sold me. I held my cool on the test drive right up until it hit 4k rpm, and at that moment I couldn't help but giggle.

Nice. I can't wait to be back behind the wheel of my Z.

Its a great feeling. What's your circumstance?

love your car. You just sent me on a craigslist tangent to look at Z's. Too bad I wont be able to have a fun car for a while. They are so beautiful though.

Thanks! This one was a Craigslist find.

I tore the car down end of last year to do paint, undercoating, Arizona ZCar brakes, suspension, an SR20DET swap, etc. Basically I finally had money for a nearly full wish list build... but that means it's out of commission for almost a year. Getting edgy to drive the thing.

Yeah, but that'll be worth the wait, it sounds badass.
I'm always going back and forth on my long term Zplan. The little L24 has so much character. But performance-wise its kinda weak. At least I've got a long time to make up my mind.

My last 240Z was a high comp L24. We were able to just get it around 200HP... but had to run it on avgas to keep it from knocking. Even doing so I accidently let the octane get low and blew it up once and then blew it up again on a hot day on a really hard pull. It was insanely fun (200HP and 285 tires all the way around with heavy flares) but after the second time I blew it up, I had to let it go because I was getting married. This time around I wanted more power, but I wanted to be able to control it and tune it more. I almost went L28ET or Rebello stroker, but I wanted to lighten the car and push the weight back. Just so happened I got a great SR for a reasonable price... otherwise I was going to go KA-T.
If you want to see anything about my car or are thinking about a swap like this, I started dumping information I am thinking about along the way into a little info site:
www.sr240z.net
I have a ton more information to add, but I got busy and haven't had time to work with the car or site.

So cool. So so so cool.
